Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala. After a briefing from your guide, you will embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. This journey takes approximately 8-10 hours by road, offering stunning views of Uganda’s rolling hills, lush greenery, and traditional homesteads. Alternatively, a domestic flight from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip (near Bwindi) is available for those who prefer a shorter travel time.
During the road trip, there will be several stopovers, including one at the Equator Line for a photo opportunity and another in Mbarara for lunch at a local restaurant. As you approach Bwindi, the landscape transforms into a dense, mist-covered rainforest, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, nestled within or near the forest. The evening is yours to relax and prepare for the next day’s thrilling adventure. You may opt for a community walk to visit the Batwa pygmies, an indigenous group with a deep cultural connection to the forest.

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters by 6:30 AM for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. You will be assigned to a specific semi-habituated gorilla family and, alongside expert trackers, researchers, and conservationists, set off into the forest.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience involves trekking deep into the dense rainforest in search of the gorillas. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. As you navigate through the thick vegetation, your guides will provide insights into the gorillas’ behaviors, habits, and the conservation efforts underway.
Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend up to four hours in their presence. This is a rare and special opportunity to observe the gorillas in their natural habitat, watching them interact, play, feed, and even groom each other. Unlike the standard gorilla trekking experience, habituation allows you to witness the gradual process of familiarizing these gorillas to human presence.
Throughout this experience, researchers will explain their work in habituating the gorillas, noting behaviors and social dynamics. You may also get the chance to see young gorillas playing, mothers caring for their infants, and the dominant silverback displaying his authority.
After an immersive and awe-inspiring time with the gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters, receive a certificate of participation, and return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest. Spend the evening reminiscing about the experience over a delicious meal and enjoy the tranquility of the forest.

After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and begin the journey back to Entebbe or Kampala. If traveling by road, expect another 8-10 hours of scenic driving with stopovers for lunch and rest breaks. Alternatively, if you opted for a domestic flight, your guide will transfer you to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Entebbe.
Upon arrival in Entebbe, you may have time to explore the craft markets, Lake Victoria shores, or enjoy a meal before catching your international flight home.
